My name is Avery Madison Porter, and I am an undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis studying English Literature and Psychological & Brain Sciences. For the past four months, I have had the honor of connecting with Nina Jacobs and hearing her incredibly moving life story. Through our almost weekly phone calls, I learned so many lessons from Nina. This book - or "our little project" as Nina calls it - is a collection of the lessons I have learned from Nina Jacobs. It has been such an honor to be a part of preserving Nina's story for future generations, and I cannot wait to see how our relationship continues to grow in the future. I hope that Nina's powerful life story and valuable life lessons inspire every reader to be the change they want to see in the world.
