Echoes of Perseverance

This project highlights Oscar Singer’s perseverance and determination through the prayer Psalm 130/Shir Hamaalot: a prayer that Oscar’s father taught him which he recited every day during his time in the camps (and he is even still able to recite it today.) Psalm 130, also known as the “Song of Ascents”, involves crying out from the depths and seeking rescue from despair and suffering. Oscar Singer’s journey began in the depths of horror and anguish, as he navigated the atrocities of Nazi persecution. His faith became his anchor, guiding him through the darkest of times. Through Psalm 130, Oscar Singer’s story emerges as a testament to his resilience. Despite enduring unspeakable horrors, Oscar held onto the belief that survival is possible even in the bleakest of circumstances. His journey is marked by moments of despair and faith, echoing the sentiments of the prayer, which will now be translated.Echoes of Perseverance
